County offers Kids to Parks Day

Community Services will celebrate Kids to Parks Day from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 21, at Centennial Park Recreation Center, 1120 Centennial Blvd., Port Charlotte. The event highlights activities children can find throughout Charlotte County parks.

“We celebrate Kids to Parks Day because it is a great way to get kids outside and improve their mental and physical health,” said Charlotte County Recreation Superintendent Erin Murphy.

Military Heritage Museum hosts Memorial Day ceremony

The annual Memorial Day ceremony will take place on Monday, May 30, at Veterans Park in Punta Gorda, sponsored by the Charlotte County Veterans Council. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and will be followed by a reception at the Military Heritage Museum, 900 W. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda. The museum will be open during the afternoon from noon to 4 p.m. Admission will be waived for all veterans.

Storm Smart raises funds for Ukraine

Storm Smart, the largest storm-protection and lifestyle-enhancement company in the state launched a campaign during the month of April to raise awareness and funds for Save the Children, a global humanitarian organization actively working to meet the urgent needs of children and their families in Ukraine.
