Here’s a sampling of upcoming events:

Through June 24: “The Road to Florida” 14th annual Juried Art Show can be viewed in the Grand Atrium. Participating artists illustrate the answers to, “What brought you to Florida? What keeps you in Florida?” The Sunshine State has many things to offer: beautiful beaches, great weather all year round, natural wonders and exuberant vegetation. For this year’s challenge, artists embrace these highlights to display their own personal “Road to Florida” stories. The best art will receive the Best in Show, SBDAC Staff Pick and People’s Choice prizes.

Through June 23: “Elementary Group Art Show” in the Capital Gallery. This exhibit showcases these mini-masterpieces by area young artists. The exhibition displays art by elementary school age students and younger in a variety of mediums. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and 10 a.m.-1- p.m. most Wednesdays and Fridays. There is a $1 entry donation.



Rooftop Yoga: With Morgan Alvarez on Sidney’s Rooftop Sculpture Garden at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays in June. The class is a combo, starting off in vinyasa flow and ending with a slower paced yin-like style. Classes are energetic, fun, balanced, thoughtfully sequenced and offer variations of asana throughout. The cost is $16 for a drop-in class.

June 15: Wine & Paint Wednesdays on Sidney’s Rooftop Sculpture Garden. Painting classes occur every third Wednesday, are led by some of the area’s most engaging painters, and offer aspiring artists a chance to gather with friends to create their own masterpieces while sipping under the stars. The rooftop is still open to the public from 6-9 p.m., with classes held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tickets are $45, including a canvas



and all necessary materials, and two glasses of wine. Wine & Paint night will be followed by dancing until 11 p.m. with music from DJ Arawn.

June 17: Dueling Pianos – Sounds of Summer Series. The evening starts with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. followed by the 7:30 p.m. performance featuring pianists Sarah Hadeka and David Rode performing on back-to-back grand pianos in the center of the Grand Atrium, with an audience seated in the round. Audience suggestions are welcome and singing along is encouraged. The cost is $10 for general admission. The evening will also feature the People’s Choice winner announcement for the June Juried Exhibition.

June 17: DJ Selecta AJ/Music Walk on Sidney’s Rooftop Sculpture Garden. Friday nights atop Sidney’s are fun for everyone with a panoramic 360-degree view of the city and the sunset over the Caloosahatchee River. Participants can learn, sip, create, celebrate, listen to music and dance the night away. There is no cover charge. Music is from 8011 p.m.. and the rooftop is open from 6 p.m.-midnight.



June 22: Rooftop Karaoke on Sidney’s Rooftop Sculpture Garden. Every fourth Wednesday, enjoy Rooftop Karaoke Night from 8-11 p.m., a fun night to sit back and enjoy the entertainment or sing out loud with friends.

June 24: The Big Bad Wolves perform from 8-11 p.m. on Sidney’s Rooftop Sculpture Garden. No cover charge. The rooftop is open from 6 p.m.-midnight.

June 29: Charcuterie Class & Wine Tasting from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Sidney’s Rooftop Sculpture Garden. On any fifth Wednesday (the next one is Aug. 31), gather and graze with some friends up on the rooftop while designing and assembling a charcuterie board paired with a wine tasting and some light music. The class is led by The Grazed Table owner Rachel Braun and all ingredients are included to enjoy there or to carry home to share. Wine purveyor Bonita Wilson will offer appropriate tastings and suggest pairings, also available for purchase. Tickets are $45 each and the rooftop is open from 6-9 p.m. ¦
